Blue Velvet

Blue Velvet
But in my heart there'll always be
Precious and warm a memory through the years
And I still can see Blue Velvet through my tears

Greetings friends!

It has been awhile and there are updates to be had. Some are happy some are not so happy. We'll start with the bad news.

So, back in January, I told y'all that my grades weren't fantastic. Well, my grades for the Spring semester weren't good enough to get me out of the hole I had dug. Because of this, I won't be a law student in the Fall. I can still apply for reinstatement in a few months, but we will see where my life is heading when that time comes. In the meanwhile, I'm staying in Virginia Beach and have begun looking for a full time job.

As heartbreaking as it is, I feel positive about this next phase of my life. I get to start actually providing for myself, and, while that will take a lot of work, I'm looking forward to standing on my own two feet.

NOW. For good news. :)

KRIS MOVED TO VIRGINIA. Well, sort of. He's officially here through August, but if he finds a job and a permanent place to live he stays forever! Haha.

He's currently staying with a couple from church. We occasionally have dinner with the four of us together and make things like Blue Velvet cake. It has been a really good summer with him here. Finding work and getting situated has been stressful but he's hanging in there. It's been amazing having him around. After the past year, getting to see him everyday is still something I'm getting used to.

Finally, I've been working a job and an internship this summer. I work at Regent Law Career Services and intern at Newport News Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court. Career Services is good. I work with good people and I am happy to have a job. My internship, unfortunately, is a bit of a commute. But I love it. I'm learning so much and have met some wonderful judges, clerks and other court people. The Clerk of the Court (she's the one in charge of the Clerk's Office which handles all the paperwork behind the cases) has me working with the office Clerks when I'm not observing court. I've talked to some colorful people with some of the most original names. I really enjoy it.

And that's all I have got for you! Thanks for reading. Send me emails/letters! Update me on your lives. I'm typically free in the evenings so y'all should call, too. I'd love to catch up with folks. If anyone knows any interviewing or resume tips, let me know that as well. :) I can use all the help I can get. Haha.
