[I'm sorry, the moment I realized what I'd be talking about for this post, I knew, instantly, what the title needed to be. That being said....]

It's been a longer time since I last posted than I wanted it to be, so I thought I'd take the time I don't have and let y'all know how I'm doing. :]

School is crazy; we have a lot (A LOT) of reading everyday. If you've seen my facebook posts, you know that I wake up early and go to the library on the weekends. This was not a habit I had in undergrad. Haha. It's been good though. We have these things called carrels, which are like personal desk space in the library where you can leave your books, and we spend time there in between classes. I had to wake up super early last friday to get to the library to get one. Apparently, there were plenty so I hadn't needed to wake up SO early, but I got to pick mine out since I was one of the first people there. That was nice. I got one next to a couple of my friends.
Oh yeah. Let me reiterate that. I have friends. I now have people that I go to church with, that I study with, that I watch rockets take off with. :D [I have a picture for studying with a friend, but she would KILL ME if I posted it. Haha.]

So, speaking of friends! Let's talk about the fire.

I was pretty stoked that I was finally starting to click with people. I decided to have some of them over for dinner and a change of environment for homework (So far, in law school, your social life consists of who you can study with). Everything was going great. A couple of girls, and this guy who also happens to live in my complex came over and we were doing homework. I took a break and started to get things ready for cooking...which included starting to heat up the oil (I was basically frying tortillas which cheese and chicken....taquitos in the most basic sense). Now, it wasn't that I had ceased to pay attention to the oil, I was standing right there, it was that I wasn't waiting for the right sign that it was hot enough. So the oil got too hot. And it ignited.

All-in-all, we were pretty calm. My neighbor friend had gone back to his place for a bit, so it was just me and the other two girls. We put a towel over it, which worked for the moment, and tried to deal with the smoke and the fact that the fire alarm was going off. Once we thought everything was over, I made the mistake of removing the towel from the pan, which cause the onset of round two. We couldn't get it to go out again. The microwave started melting. Thankfully, one of my friends said, "Where's the fire extinguisher?" And I was like...."I have no idea." So, she found it in my hallway and we put the fire out. The fire department came and checked everything out. Since then, they replaced my stove, but I'm waiting on a new microwave.

In a weird way, I'm kinda glad it happened. Because that was the first night I really felt that I had friends and not just that I knew people. We went out to dinner and then one of the girls had me sleep at her place cause I didn't want to deal with the nightmare that was my apartment (and the smoke). I had friends over again (for dinner) the last two nights, so I've been feeling more connected and things got a lot better after that.

One more update before I have to melt my brain with Civil Procedure reading.

My school, being a Christian school, has chapel for the law students every thursday. They have worship and a speaker....it's basically a shorter version of the large group meetings we had at CSUN. I had signed up to be a part of the worship team(s), and was then asked to be one of the leaders!! It's not an every week commitment, so it shouldn't be too much for me. On Friday, though, I found out that more than being a volunteer, I could have a position on the Council of Graduate Students (COGS) as a worship leader.....which includes a semesterly scholarship. This is beyond awesome since I had been considering getting a small part-time job. God is good. :]

Alrighty! It's time to melt my brain. I miss you all. There's one other announcement, but I'm gunna wait a bit to share that one. :] (If I've actually spoken to you in the last 4 days, you already know.)

Thanks to my TWO followers! :] I feel like I'm not talking to a wall, now. :']

And like always: Send me letters! I want to hear from you! The time difference and crazy schedules make it hard to keep up with people, but if you send me a letter (Or card!), I will read it!! (And you'll put a stupid smile on my face...that's gotta count for something, right? Haha)

Thank you, much, to those who have:
