A Little Home

Sometimes you just need a little home
A little let you know you’re not alone
To carry in your heart
And keep your spirit strong
Sometimes you just need a little home

I have not posted in forever. I am so sorry. Haha.

The last few weeks have been amazing, crazy and busy. Let's see, the last time I posted was right before my birthday, so I'll update from that point.

My birthday was so much fun! That morning, one of my friends, Sarah, picked me up and took me to school. She showed up with red velvet cake (my favorite!) that she and our other friend Marie had made. I felt spoiled. <3 We had class all day, but after our last class, I went to Red Robin with a few people for dinner. :] It was a good day and I'm glad I had friends here to celebrate with.

The rest of that week couldn't go by fast enough as I waited to go back to California for fall break. I arrived Saturday afternoon and spent that day with Kris. I had been planning to go to my friend's birthday party, but by the time I got to Northridge, I was so exhausted, I just took a nap. Kris and I ended up going for the last bit of it, though, so I still got to see people. I spent the rest of the week seeing friends and getting work done on campus and in Starbucks. While I was there, I got glasses.

So, a little background information. I had been getting killer headaches in the weeks leading up to fall break. It was hard to read or be on my computer and I spent a lot of time sleeping. A woman at my life group recommended that I get my eyes checked. I hadn't thought of that option because I'd had perfect vision my whole life, I still do, but she said that I could be having eye strain and that would bring on headaches like I was describing. So I had my eyes checked, and sure enough, that's what it was. I was VERY slightly far-sighted, meaning that in no degree large enough to affect my clarity of sight, I had trouble seeing close-up. She said that I could either spend less time reading and on the computer, or get glasses. I told her I was a law student. I got glasses. At first, I wasn't sure if they would work, but after a week or so, they headaches had stopped and I haven't had them since (unless I try to read too long without them, then my head starts hurting again). I can also read for longer without getting as tired so BONUS!

My last day in Northridge was a date day with Kris. We hit 6 months! Whooooo, I'm excited for that. We just spent the day hanging out. We saw a movie and went to Japanese BBQ for dinner. Soooo good. I was spoiled. We've decided we need to find less expensive restaurants like it. Haha.

After I got back from break, it was time to hit the grind. The 1L's had our final project due in our Legal Analysis class. At one point or another that week, every single person I knew had some form of a break down. Mine happened after I got a far less than desirable grade on our previous assignment. But we all pulled through and turned our assignments in on time. Last week, everyone was exhausted. None of us had a chance to recover before it was time to hit the books again. This week, it seems that people are back in the rhythm of school and classes, but I think most of us are avoiding the fact that finals are only three weeks away (side note: for the record, I will not be posting during the two weeks of finals).

Last weekend we had a party for my friend Marie. It was lots of fun, I haven't laughed that hard in a while. It was masquerade themed and we got to dress up, which is one of my favorite things to do. There was good food and delicious cake. The best part though was that I hadn't really spent time with my friends since coming back from fall break (I had been sick, so between that and assignments, there wasn't a lot of time to spend with people), so getting to genuinely hang out with my friends was a wonderful thing.

This week, my goals are to catch up and get my outlines done so I can start preparing for finals. I'm looking forward to being done and going home. I can't wait to be back in California. I'm also hoping it rains some more!!! :D [I'm not sure if you can tell in these photos, but it's POURING. By the time I had walked to the bottom of the stairs I was soaked through. I loved it!]

For those of you who sent cards and called and just all the general birthday love, thank you so much. <3 It meant a lot.

To be honest, the last few weeks have been really hard and I got pretty down and discouraged. I'm very grateful to have people who give me perspective, put me in my place, and remind me that not only is it going to be okay, but I'm gunna make it. I just have a few weeks left and I'd like to finish strong. I'd appreciate the thoughts, prayers, and support, and I hope to be updated on your lives when I'm back in town. Miss y'all lots.
